Contract for Difference (CFD)

Definition

An agreement between a trader and broker to exchange the difference in price of an asset from when the position is opened to when it is closed. No ownership of the underlying asset occurs.

Example

Trading EUR/USD as a CFD with 1:100 leverage means a $1,000 deposit controls $100,000 of currency exposure.
