Quantitative Tightening (QT)

Definition

The process of a central bank reducing its balance sheet by selling bonds or letting them mature without reinvesting. The opposite of Quantitative Easing.

Example

The Fed's quantitative tightening reduced market liquidity, putting pressure on risk assets.
