OECD projects BoJ hiking rates to 2% by end-2027
The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) projected the Bank of Japan (BoJ) will raise its policy rate to 2.0% by end-2027 from 0.75% currently, supported by higher inflation expectations, solid wage growth and a closed output gap.
The expectation of the BoJ raising rates to 2% by the end of 2027 may strengthen the Japanese yen as investors anticipate tighter monetary policy. This could lead to upward pressure on the yen against other currencies in the forex market.
